Lazio are set to resume talks with Manchester United over a move for uncertain striker Mason Greenwood after having their first bid rejected.
Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport reports that. Lazio are keen to sign Greenwood to bolster their attack for the 2024-25 season. And will resume talks with Manchester United this week UFABET
Greenwood has reportedly been wanted by Lazio president Claudio Lotito since last year. But was snapped up by Getafe on loan from Manchester United for the 2023-24 season.
However, Lotito has not given up on plans to bring Greenwood to Rome’s Stadio Olimpico.
The main obstacle remains the transfer fee. Which Manchester United have set at a whopping €40m. Despite Greenwood’s current contract at Old Trafford entering the final year.
Previously, Lazio had an initial bid rejected by Manchester United. With an offer worth just €20m plus a 50 per cent cut on any future transfers.
Meanwhile, Greenwood was named Getafe’s Player of the Year after making 33 La Liga appearances. Scoring eight goals and providing six assists in the 2023-24 season.
Lazio can only afford to sign one between Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood and Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic. So the Italian capital side will have to choose between the two. Alfredo Pedullà believes the Serbian International could be the more plausible option. As Lazio will be facing stern competition for the English attacker from the Premier League and La Liga.
